This document describes how to useScan to multiple filesFunctionality from the control panel and Embedded Web Server (EWS).
This feature is available for all HP LaserJet Enterprise Multifunction Printers (MFPs) equipped with FutureSmart firmware version 3.2.7 or later.
Overview of the Scan to Multiple Files feature
When scanning documents from the automatic document feeder (ADF) and saving them as PDF files, you can use theScan to multiple filesfeature to set the number of pages per file to create multiple PDF files from a single scan session. The number of pages to create a document can be set from 1 to 9999 pages. This feature works with all PDF-enabled digital sending destinations (email, network folders, SharePoint, and USB flash drives).
Example: Create a 4-page PDF document from a raw file2 sides100-page document, setpages per filearrive4insideScan to multiple filesenvironment. This will create 50 PDF files, each of which will contain 4 pages of the original document.

Follow the steps below to print a configuration page:
On the printer's control panel, open the following menus:

Configuration/Status Page

Step 2: Open EWS
To open EWS, follow these steps:
Open a web browser, and enter the printer IP address in the address field exactly as it was on the configuration page.

If the web browser displaysThere is a problem with the site's security certificate, clickContinue to this site (not recommended)。

Enter an administrator password, if required.
Step Three: Configure Network Settings
To access and set network configuration parameters, follow these steps:

Make sure your email client's DNS suffix is listed inTCP/IP domain suffixpart.
Example of aDNS suffix format: companyname.com
If the DNS Suffix is not listed, enter it in the field to the left of DNS SuffixAdd tobutton, then click theAdd to。

Step four: Configure scan/digital send settings
Send or save scanned documents using one of the following methods:
e-mail
save to network folder
Save to SharePoint
save to usb
notes:before configuratione-mailIn the EWS, make sure the printer has an active network connection.
To configure email settings, follow these steps:
clickScan/Digital Sendtab, then clickemail settingsfrom the left pane.
chooseEnable send to emailcheckbox.
chooseOutgoing email server (SMTP)use, or
clickAdd toFor a different server and complete the information in the SMTP wizard.
Configure the information on the SMTP server using one of the following options:
chooseI know my SMTP server address or hostname, type the address of the SMTP server, and clickNext。
chooseSearch the web for outgoing email servers, then clickNext。
select optionSet up the basic information needed to connect to the server, then clickNext。
notes:
If your email service is Goggle Gmail, selectEnable SMTP SSL protocolcheckbox.
Choose the option describedServer Authentication Requirements, then clickNext。

ifServer requires authentication, select the User Credentials option.

Check configuration settingsSummary and Testpage, enter an email address to send a test email, and clicktest, then clickFinish。

To save scanned documents to a network folder, follow these steps:
clickScan/Digital Sendtab, then clickSave to network folder settingsfrom the left pane.
chooseEnable saving to network foldercheckbox.
insideQuick Setupsection, clickAdd toand fill in the informationQuick Setup Wizard。

Select the type of shared folder and its access level in Shared Folderfolder settingsChoose from the following options:
Save to shared folder or FTP
clickAdd toCreate a target folder.
To save scanned documents to a shared folder, selectsave to shared folder, make sure to typeUNC folder path, and then select the desired option for the Quick Settings folder.
To save scanned documents on an FTP server, selectSave to FTP server, fill in the information, clickVerify accessConfirm that the destination is accessible, then clickOK。
Save to personal shared folder
This option is used in domain environments where users must log in on the product control panel using Windows credentials or LDAP authentication.
Only send to folders with read and write permissions
This option supports folder access authentication and job notification.
Allow sending to folders with write permissions only
This option sends the same filename for all scans.

Select a predefined filename prefix or suffix.

Make sure to choose a time-related filename prefix or suffix for the scan filename so that each scan is saved as a unique file and previous files are not overwritten.

Insert the USB into a USB port and follow the steps below to configure the settings from the USB:

Follow the steps below to create multiple files from a PDF using the following commandScan to multiple filesenvironment:

Load the document into the ADF tray and adjust the paper guides to fit the width of the document.

Scan and send the file using one of the following methods

Follow the steps below to scan documents using the email menu:
On the control panel, clicke-mail。

notes:Make sure to create a Quick Set in the EWS to use the Scan/Digital Send settings.
Perform the following steps in Scan/Digital Send Setup:
On the control panel, touchadministrativemenu.
OpenScan/Digital Sendmenu.
Select one of the following scan and send settings:
save to network folder: Select an item in the listQuick Setuplist, type the file name, and then the selector type the path to the network folder (path format: \\path\path).
save to usb: Select a folder in the folder list or clicknew folderTo create a new folder on the USB flash drive, enter a file name, then touchOK。
Save to SharePoint: Select an item in the listQuick Setuplist, enter a file name, and touchOK。
